Arlington Heights man convicted of evading gas tax (Thu, 19 Apr 2) The owner of an Arlington Heights gas station was convicted Wednesday on 16 counts of filing fraudulant sales and use tax returns. The following was taken from Arlington Heights Police records on Feb. 20.
Burglary
Three handguns were stolen from a locked closet in a home on the 600 block of East Park Street between 11 a.m. and 1:19 p.m. Feb. 17. The rear door of the home was also forced open.
Theft
Two feet of copper wire, extending from 96 lampposts and valued together at $300, was stolen from the Lexus auto dealership construction site, 1500 W. Dundee Road, between midnight Feb. 2 and 7 a.m. Feb. 15. The cost to repair the lampposts is about $9,000.
A blue flash drive was stolen from a computer at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library, 500 N. Dunton Ave., at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 16. The owner had briefly stepped away.
A cell phone and $500 cash were stolen from a purse in a shopping cart at the Jewel-Osco Vail Street Market, 122 N. Vail Ave., between 3:12 and 3:51 p.m. Feb. 18.
Criminal damage to vehicle
The windshield of a white motor coach bus was broken by chunks of asphalt while parked at Garden Fresh Market, 600 E. Rand Road, between 1 a.m. Feb. 18 and 5:30 a.m. Feb. 20. The cost of the damage is unknown.
The sides, hood and roof of a 2007 BMW 750 were dented and a vulgar message was scratched across the trunk while it was parked in an apartment lot on the 2400 block of South Goebbert Road between 10:30 p.m. Feb. 15 and 7:45 a.m. Feb. 16.
