Does anyone remember the name of the place on Dundee Road that sold Frozen Custard? It was way before Oberwiess Dairy.

Sorry that this took so long.  We didn't get the message until this morning.

We looked in the old directories and found a place called Al Gelato Ice Cream at 956 East Dundee in the 1990 directory.  956 East Dundee is on Dundee between Kennicott and Ridge.  Do you think that could be the one that you have in mind?

Oberweis has been in that spot since about 1997, so you're saying it was between 1990 and 1997?

And was the place you're thinking of in the same exact spot where Oberweis is now?

I found an old Usenet posting of mine (dated December of '95) that refers to "Crazy Dave's Frozen Custard" on Dundee Rd. Is that the place?

Looks like the social network wins again!  I have to admit, we had a few librarians just racking our brains here and looking through old directories.  But when someone just flat-out remembers it, well, that'll work, too!
